Hey there,
For my grandparents anniversary (on Valentines Day) we took them to Boa Steakhouse. Funny, none of us ended up having steak! For my appetizer I had Tuna Tar Tar with thin toast. The tuna didn't have a lot of taste by itself, but when I added the toast it tasted really good. My mom had the same thing, she loved it, even my grandmother who hates raw fish liked it! My father had some of ours but he also had foie gras.
For my main course I had a medium rare cheeseburger with Camembert cheese. It was one of the best burgers I have ever had. There was a brioche bun that tasted like a bagel. In case you didn't know, I am a sucker for soft cheese so the moment I saw that it had Camembert and fries, I had to get it! My grandfather had the same thing but well-done and with regular cheese. My grandmother also had it the way grandpa did. My mother had raw salmon on a cracker that was too fishy for me and she said it was "OKAY". Dad had sea bass that was also too fishy. For the table we had chipotle lime corn, which was really good and only a little bit spicy and sour!
For dessert we had a plate of cookies, which I didn't have, big surprise, right! Me and my dad shared a marshmallow chocolate ice cream cup, it was too sweet and it tasted burnt.
That's all folks!
Please pass this on to your lovely daughter. You and K deserve a pat on the back. She is a relection of you!
ReplyDeleteDear Watermelonradish: You are magically talented. I feel honored when I read your postings on food. I know that you are a young one and there is so much bad press about teenagers, I wanted to let you know that you are simply amazing. Keep writing, it is good for the soul.
Just passing on an observation I made this week, I attended 40 hours of instruction, interaction and hands-on at a trade show for photographers. All of the GREAT and wildly successful photogs started by blogging about their passion. (It has inspired me to start blogging about scuba and images.) You already have a jump start on your passion. Congrats and keep writing sweetie.
Take care of you! Powerfully and peacefully yours, Angelina Galindo
Darling Gourmet, I am fascinated by the depth and variety of your tastes, your sly ability to set characters by their intake and, mostly, by you. I regret that I'm such a poor correspondent, for my thoughts travel more often and fully than my words. Being with you was the highlight of my summer, and I look forward to seeing more of you. Meanwhile, look up Cappodokia (there are a variety of spellings) in Turkey. Some of your photos reminded me of that fantasy place. love, Aunt Kitty
ReplyDeleteHello Dear Watermelon Radish,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tips on the raw fish. Personally I do not fancy anything that isn't well done-even my hamburger with camembert.
Perhaps one day you could post some recipes-like that fudge one that you talk so lovingly about last Xmas. I think my family would enjoy it.
We love your food comments-very well done and very descriptive. Keep writing and we'll keep following.
