Last week at my house P came over to grill sausages with my dad. My grandparents ate marinated lamb chops. We had four different types of sausage: Polish, Kielbasa, Chicken Pepper and Portuguese. We had grilled artichokes, which I usually like but these were burnt and had no taste, although the adults didn't agree. I usually like them boiled. The Polish sausage was spicy and sweet, I wrapped it in bread to cut the spice. The Kielbasa was really delicious, it was my favorite because it was really sweet and mild, I had one and a half pieces! The chicken pepper was.... well don't get me started on that one, it was horrible! The Portuguese tasted a lot like the Polish. We had salads on a bed of butter lettuce tucked in with ranch and trimmed with tomato's. We had corn that was sweet and baby carrots that were a treat! All in all it was pretty good BBQ night.
That's all Y'all
I think both Polish and Kielbasa should be one and the same...growing up with Poles...maybe out here they are different but they shouldn't be...loved you article about Mammoth food. We eat there too. Looked good. Agree with you about artichokes, they should be boiled. I like them the Sicilian way too which is stuffed. Very good. Till the next one.
ReplyDeletesounds like a great night. love sausage! I'm not a huge fan of artichokes, they are a lot of work for little results.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the same as Carweb94. My family is Polish and Polish Sausage is Kielbasa. I'm wondering how your two sausages were different from each other? I agree about the artichokes, too. I can't remember if you dipped them in anything? DId you?
ReplyDeleteWow! aren't you getting a taste of so many different foods!
ReplyDeleteIf the artichokes are burnt you need to fire the chef. My posse likes the steamed & charred artichokes at The Hitching Post in Casmalia. Driving out there from Lompoc you might hit a deer, (if youre not careful) and then you would have venison sausage for your next bbq. Deer is cheap, but the damage to your ride is a little pricey.
ReplyDeleteWhy didnt a bratwurst hit the grill? Mustard only! Milwaukee style. So they say.
HI -I love your blog-i love how you talk about not particularly liking the burnt artichokes-they looked burnt to me as well.
ReplyDeleteIf I may suggest try Trader Joe's. They have great sausage variety.
Keep posting -we like reading.
